Med Access - First Vendor to achieve compliance in British Columbia – March 27, 2008

Today, Paul Walker President and CEO announced that Med Access has become the first company to pass all P.I.T.O. conformance testing that is required for doctors to be eligible for PITO funding.

“This is an important milestone for our company and another example of our ability to respond quickly to market needs. The real winners today are the Doctors of BC who can now get started on the EMR implementation with the assurances provided by PITO funding and an EMR solution that has been rigorously evaluated for functionality, security, patient privacy, technical infrastructure, implementation services, ongoing support, integration with other health data and company stability.” Stated Walker from the company’s Kelowna Head office.

Over the past few months, separate tests have been conducted for software usability and conformance to core requirements. The conformance testing was based on 234 test steps, some encompassing numerous sub-steps and supporting documentation. Reviewers included physicians, clinical office staff, IT specialists and Ministry representatives. Ministry representatives visited our ASP hosting facility and our Support Centre to verify that all standards were met or exceeded. The testing was very thorough.

“This is great news for our current clients and those Doctors approved for funding this week. Being the first to achieve PITO conformance demonstrates that our core product meets the highest expectations in the country. In reality, we had very little preparation to do because the PITO requirements closely matched the customer requirements that had already shaped our product. Being ahead of the game, we’ve been able to work on other leading-edge features that allow increased collaboration and less re-work between physicians. This has been the exciting part and I believe that doctors will be very pleased with what we can offer over-and-above the PITO requirements.” Remarked Scott Macfarlane, Chief Technology Officer.

Recently, Med Access was selected by the largest community EMR in BC. After an exhaustive evaluation process the team of Specialists and GP’s were unanimous in their opinion that Med Access has the most comprehensive and user friendly functionality for the wide range of Doctors in their group of 120. They were very impressed by the Med Access capability to share patient information throughout the region. Some clinics are already live and we’ve been proceeding with PITO through pilot implementations. Randy Gaebel, VP of Operations predicted the increased demand for the EMR product some time ago and has built the infrastructure to ensure we can meet the demand and maintain a “personal touch for all new users.”

“As a founder of the company I take great pride in the accomplishments of our long-standing customers in BC and the recent endorsements of our EMR solution from both the PITO organization and the large community of practice that selected Med Access. We have invested substantially in our support and implementation teams to ensure we maintain the high levels of customer satisfaction we have enjoyed to date. It feels good to have the PITO testing behind us so that we can dedicate our full attention to working with customers, one at a time, to ensure their success with an EMR implementation.”

Winter, 2007 Newsletter - EMR Version 3.2 Ready for January Release

Currently beta testing at four sites in Western Canada, version 3.2 will be released in January of 2008.

“This is exciting news for both our current customers and the clients scheduled for install early in the new year. “ stated Scott MacFarlane, the Chief Technology Officer for Med Access.

“Our plan with this release was to enhance the functionality that differentiates our offering from the legacy systems we compete against and, introduce several ground breaking features that cannot be found in any other EMR .

The feedback from our beta sites is that we have surpassed our goals and further improved both system performance and the usability.

Our clients have come to have high expectations, so I would like to congratulate the whole development team on once again clearing a bar that was set very high.

I would also like to thank Paula Callan for her hard work and dedication. Paula worked very closely for many months along with Travis Mallow our technical lead for billing to provide the critical perspective and feedback of the end user.

The integration and intelligence we have incorporated into our latest billing engine as a result of this collaboration is both very powerful and exciting.”
